JG Speedfit Kawasaki is ready for the start of the 2018 season after a successful final day of testing at Donington Park on Tuesday 20th March.
During the official testing, ahead of the start of Bennetts British Superbike Championship, Leon Haslam battled against reigning champion Shane Byrne to secure the fastest lap, recording a time of 1m 29.902s.
Meanwhile, teammate Luke Mossey fought hard to secure fifth place, just 1.957 seconds behind Leon.
Team owner Pete Extance said: “That’s all the testing done ahead of the 2018 BSB season, and it’s been the most rigorous winter testing we have ever done.
“The team kicked off testing back in November with a session at Jerez in Spain and from then on we have been on track for 11 days of testing and preparation.
“The weather this year has already played a part in both the Spanish test and earlier this week at Donington Park. But our riders and crews have worked hard and we’re in the best position we have ever been to start a season.
“The bikes have undergone a complete makeover for 2018 and the riders certainly feel we have made positive steps from the 2017 machinery.
“Leon has been the quickest rider at all the tests we have done and achieved great speed at Donington to top the time sheets in very tricky conditions. Luke struggled at the end of the 2017 season but is certainly back to his old self now and raring to go.
“Both riders can hit the ground running at Round 1 and hopefully that will kickstart our 2018 campaign. I feel we have unfinished business from 2017 and both riders in the showdown and a title winner should be our goal for 2018.
“As always, thanks to all our sponsors and fans, we look forward to seeing you all at Donington Park.”
Leon Haslam said he’s looking forward to the start of the 2018 season following a successful training programme.
“Although the weather wasn’t kind to us during the earlier tests at Spain’s Monte Blanco and Guadix circuits, we still managed to get a really good feel for the bike and make improvements,” said Leon.
“The team has worked really hard so hopefully we’ll have a successful start to the season kicking off at my home round in Donington.”
Luke added: “We’ve had a really good testing programme this year. It’s been a positive start ahead of the new season and we’re in better shape than we ever have been before.
“It’s looking really good for the season and I’m now ready to do battle at Donington this Easter!”
The 2018 Bennetts British Superbike Championship begins at Donington Park on Easter weekend (Saturday 31st March to Monday 2nd April).
