About JG Speedfit Kawasaki

JG Speedfit Kawasaki, under Team Owner Pete Extance, had their first British Superbike Championship (BSB) race back in 2010 with James Hillier. Since then, the team have gone from strength to strength.

2015 saw the team have their best season to date both in BSB and at the Isle of Man TT races. Young rookie, Luke Mossey had a tremendous debut Superbike season. He achieved two podiums and secured the Riders’ Cup for his 7th place overall finish in the Championship. Over in the IOM TT, James Hillier also had 3 podiums.

In 2016, the team expanded to include Swedish Superbike rider, Filip Backlund and Northern Irish Supersport Rider Andy Reid. The team also included the British Sidecar Champions from 2015, Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood.

While Backlund and Reid had injury hit seasons, Mossey continued his impressive form from 2015 and broke through into the Champions Showdown in just his second season in BSB.

He finished 6th overall. Stevens and Charlwood also continued their run of form in 2016. They podium in every round and went on to clinch their second Championship.

2017 was a rollercoaster year. Under new sponsorship, JG Speedfit Kawasaki, the team brought on board Leon Haslam. Haslam narrowly missing out to Shane Byrne in the 2016 Championship. At end of the 2017 season, Leon was leading the Championship going into the final round, but a dramatic crash in the final race saw Shane Byrne take the title once again and Leon finish in third. Luke began the season in storming fashion, completing his first BSB race win at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in Race 1, and making it a double win by topping the podium in Race 2. A crash at Thruxton saw Luke have an injury hit season and he narrowly missed out on a place in the Showdown. Stevens & Charlwood also had a season that was hit by injuries and technical difficulties which saw them end the season in third place.

Both Leon Haslam and Luke Mossey return to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship for 2018, with Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood in the Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship
